Hadi Touré Guindo is an environmental engineer and water specialist, and the co-founder of AFR’EAU, a community-driven initiative dedicated to action, training, and research in the water and environmental sectors across Mali and the wider Sahel.
Through AFR Consulting, AFR’EAU’s operational branch, she supports communities and institutions with capacity-building services, technical assistance, mentoring programmes, and applied research. Her work is all about strengthening local expertise and promoting practical, innovative solutions that last. She is especially passionate about creating bridges between communities, young professionals, and institutions, making sure water and environmental solutions are locally owned, socially inclusive, and grounded in real needs.
Hadi leads the strategic development of both AFR’EAU and AFR Consulting. She designs and supervises capacity-building and citizen-science programmes, and builds partnerships that help elevate local knowledge and voices within national and international decision-making spaces. She first crossed paths with iCRA through the SUFESEA project, which supported young female graduates entering the water sector. iCRA’s playful, hands-on training style and its focus on building collaborative relationships immediately resonated with AFR’EAU’s vision. From there, the connection grew naturally into a long-term partnership.
iCRA and AFR Consulting share a belief that real systemic change happens when people have both the technical know-how and the confidence to collaborate, innovate, and lead. Together, we are nurturing a new generation of professionals ready to turn water and environmental challenges into opportunities for resilient development. Our joint work brings together a broad ecosystem: universities, youth networks, water utilities, NGOs, and development partners active in water, climate resilience, and social innovation across West Africa and beyond.
Outside of work, when Hadi isn’t deep in conversations about rivers, environmental justice, or youth leadership, she’s most likely off exploring a different continent.
