Organisational Strengthening
This project was developed to enhance the capacity of the School of Agriculture and Biotechnology (SAB) of Eldoret University, to run labour market responsive and gender sensitive curricula in seed technology and agri-business management that leads to graduates and trainees that meet labour market needs and contribute to food security. The project was executed by a consortium of KIT (lead), CDI-Wageningen UR and iCRA.
The SAB course programme was improved by developing new programs and courses (at BSc, MSc and PhD level), by including soft-skills courses into existing programmes, and by creating more opportunities for students to gain practical experiences. Staff performance was improved through individual skill improvement programs. The outreach programme of SAB was professionalised through the set-up of an outreach office. Two research programs were initiated under the project, a research programme on agricultural extension and rural development, and one on a prioritisation by SAB, for example a multi-disciplinary programme in the field of seed sector development. The project initiated lecturer and PhD student-run academic paper series and a popular short communication series to improve research result documentation and communication by staff and students.
